A Little Bit About Jamie

Yoga has been an ongoing transformation for me.  What began as an 'activity' has become a career path and passion that I want to share with others.

My yoga teacher training began with Integrative Yoga Therapy, having completed their 200-RYT training program through Haleybird Yoga and Wellness Studios.  During my ten-month training, I also interned weekly with Tina Romenesko, PYT, E-RYT in a Yoga Therapy group class.  As part of my training, I also volunteered at the Washington Park Senior Center in Milwaukee WI, leading a gentle, mature adult class.  The senior center yogis truly gave me one of my greatest joys, sharing the practice with such a beautiful group with so much love, happiness and wisdom.

My eagerness to learn all I can about the practice of yoga and its therapeutics aspects, led me train with Dr. Timothy McCall. I completed Dr. McCalls "Yoga As Medicine" Level 1 training in June 2014.

Along with offering a land-based practice, I am also certified as an Aqua Kriya Yoga instructor.  Taking your practice into the water can make poses that are inaccessible on land accessible.  Sometimes even the gentlest of yoga classes can be intimidating, this is where yoga practiced in the water can help, providing a feeling of lightness and buoyancy that can only be achieved in this element.

I have advanced my studies by training with Dr. Loren Fishman, Yoga for Osteoporosis.  Studies have shown that a yoga practice for those with osteoporosis or osteopenia can actually encourage bone growth.  If you would like more information on this, please feel free to contact me.

In 2015, I successfully completed training as a Cancer Exercise Specialist through the Cancer Exercise Training Institute in Oregon.  My emphasis during training is yoga based. Bringing people back into their bodies, in a positive, healthy way, at a time when they probably feel most betrayed by their bodies is key to recovery from the effects of surgery, chemo, and radiation.

In 2020, I completed my 800-hr training with Inner Peace Yoga Therapy. Being a certified yoga therapist brings me back to the basics as to why I continue on this path of yoga and yogic living. My hope is to offer health and healing through the practice of yoga and meditation.

Being a certified yoga instructor allows me to share my love of the practice with others.   My approach is to integrate all aspects of our being, not just the physical body, but to include our emotional, energetic and spiritual bodies to create unity with ourselves and others.  Incorporating breath work, mudras, movement and a peaceful relaxation in each session guides us to this unity.
